SEO er en forkortelse for search engine optimisation, eller søkemotoroptimalisering på godt norsk. Det er prosessen med å gjøre nettsiden din synlig på nett. Dette gjøres ved å øke kvantitet og kvalitet på trafikken til nettsiden din, som gir høyere rangering i organiske treff i søkemotorer som Google.

Det er altså ikke annonsering i Google, kun organiske treff hvor man ikke kan betale for en bedre rangering.

Teknisk SEO. Prosessen med å optimalisere siden din for at søkemotorer skal kunne gå gjennom den. Har du gjort jobben din riktig vil søkemotorer som Google kunne lese, tolke og indeksere innholdet ditt. Grunnen til at det heter ”teknisk” er at det ikke har noenting å gjøre med hvordan du promoterer nettsiden din.

Hvorfor er SEO viktig?

Google har de siste årene blitt et synonym for informasjon. Det blir faktisk gjort så mange som 3,8 millioner søk hvert minutt. De fleste av oss bruker Google når vi skal finne frem til noe. Du bør jobbe med SEO for å være til stede når noen søker etter det du tilbyr.

La oss si at du selger sykler. Du kan henge opp et skilt ved veien som sier ”Sykler til salgs!” og håpe på at så mange som mulig ser det. Det gjør at de fleste som kjører på denne veien ser skiltet ditt, også de som ikke er ute etter sykler.

Om du derimot jobber med SEO, kan du være synlig når noen søker etter sykler. Dette er personer som er på utkikk etter en ny sykkel, med andre ord er det personer du gjerne vil ha i butikken din.

Det er ikke alle som er helt kjøpeklare enda, noen er kanskje i steg 1 eller 2 i kjøpsprosessen. Da kan du nå disse ved å være til stede når de søker på ting relatert til produktene du selger. Søker noen etter ”beste sykkeldekk” eller ”hvordan bytte kjede på sykkel”, kan artikler du har skrevet dukke opp for å hjelpe de. Ved å hjelpe til med å løse problemene deres, blir du en troverdig kilde til informasjon.

Dette gjør valget litt lettere når de omsider skal ha seg en ny sykkel.
